Prayer & Fasting Focus
Fasting Dates: August 16 – 22, 2026 (Seven Day Fast)
Hello Freedom Center Family,
We are believing for breakthrough, healing, restoration, and freedom in our lives. Listed below are two types of fasts and a consecration. Seek the Lord concerning which one He is requiring from you in this season.
1. Water only
2. Water and 1 meal per day
3. Consecration - only vegetables (raw or cooked), fruit, 100% vegetable or fruit juice and water
AVOID: Refined sugar (cookies, cake, pies, candy, soda, coffee – sugar)
What are the reasons for our fast?
1. Jesus expects us to fast.
*Matthew 6:16-18 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.”
2. Humbling ourselves before God.
*2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
3. Repenting
*Joel 2:12-13 “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
4. Building our faith and strengthening our prayers
*Matthew 17:21 “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
5. Expressing love and worship to God
*Luke 2:37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day.
6. Hearing from God and guidance
*Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
*James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
7. Drawing closer to God and separating ourselves from the world
*James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded.
*Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Prayer Points of Focus During this Fast:
➢ Sunday - Ask for the Holy Spirit to show you your heart - Pray that addictions, strongholds and bondages will be broken in your life and in the lives of others and that the fruit of the Spirit will be manifested
○ Romans 12:1-3; 1 John 1:5-10; Hebrews 4:12
➢ Monday - Ask for a New Heart - Pray for personal spiritual renewal and commitment
○ Psalm 51:10; Ezekiel 36:26; Colossians 3:1-25
➢ Tuesday - Pray for unity within yourself (The Father, Your Spirit, Your Soul and your body)
○ 1 Thessalonians 5:15-24
➢ Wednesday - Ask for Divine Guidance, Strength, Wisdom, Discernment, Steadfastness. Consistency, and Endurance
○ Proverbs 3:1-35; Ephesians 6:1-23; 1 Corinthians 15:58
➢ Thursday - Pray for your Family and neighborhood, The Freedom Center Family (Unity), the Shady Lane Community, Sherwood Middle School, Shady Lane Elementary and for Salvation of the unsaved
○ Ephesians 4:1-32; Philippians 2:1-16
➢ Friday - Pray for Multiplication in Spiritual Maturity and Church Growth
○ 2 Peter 1:1-11; John 15; Matthew 18:18-20
➢ Saturday - Pray for The 12th Year Anniversary Celebration - August 29th through 30th
○ Ephesians 3:20–21
During the fast:
Limit – television, social media, video games, and refrain from negative conversation (always).
Indulge in prayer, reading the Bible, and even listening to uplifting Christ centered music.
*If you are on medication, do observe your doctors’ orders.
